Legend or Not?

February 28, 2008

“The following statements may sound funny and absurd but I think I have some point here.”

In your childhood, have you heard your mother tell you a story about how kids are kidnapped by a creature the named “Sipay.”  They say that he will take you when you refuse to take a nap at noon. Well, this urban legend is seems real these days.

Recent reports in the television, newspapers and in the mouths of many people tell that someone, maybe a group or an individual is taking children and adults with the age of 32 below. The victims will then be found in remote areas without kidneys, eyeballs, and other organs. It seems to me that “Sipay” got tired of kidnapping only children and squeezing their blood to make bridges strong. They moved on with the economy and sold the parts for money. A report here in Lucena City, Philippines say that in Grand Central terminal, a van was found and inside was children with missing eyeballs and with wounds in their bellies, presumed to be surgical wounds. In other provinces in Quezon, same stories can be heard.

In a seminar I attended, a speaker shared to us that this is a kind of human trafficking. Where in these poor people are taken and forced to sell their body parts.

Funny huh? Even kids who take naps in the afternoons are not safe from this wild creature.

If you have information or know someone who experienced this kind of inhumanity, please share with me your story and post it as a comment. Maybe I can help through this blog. I will communicate with social workers in our school for better reinforcements. Or you can directly go to DSWD and report your case. But I insist to tell your stories so that I can be more aware about the matter.

Let us all cooperate in eradicating this kind of problem in the society thanks.
